Stockholm University is looking for a new Art Curator
The Management Secretariat, together with the Planning Secretariat and the Legal Secretariat, forms the Rector's Office. The secretariat consists of just over 20 employees. The overarching mission of the Management Secretariat is to provide direct support to the university management in both operational management-related and university-wide strategic issues.
At the Management Secretariat's section, Spökslottet and the art activities, the university's art curator works. The section is based in Spökslottet, where central parts of the university's art collection are also located. The building is also used for representation and meetings.

Job Responsibilities
As an art curator, you will be responsible for the university's art collections. The position includes management, supervision, and care of the collection and combines both administrative and practical tasks. The role includes, among other things, registration and cataloging of art and crafts, as well as work with placement and hanging of artworks, loans, donations, damage inventory, and issues related to climate and security. The work also involves handling art objects and, in some cases, heavy lifting.
As an art curator, you will have ongoing contact with employees within the university's various areas of activity, as well as with teachers, researchers, and students. The position also includes educational elements, such as mentoring interns and working to make the art collection accessible for research, teaching, and the general public, for example through exhibitions. If applicable, the art curator is also responsible for artistic design projects.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- A minimum of three years of academic education in art history or another relevant field.
- Experience in museum collection work, preferably with a focus on older art or collections.
- Experience in managing art collections.
- Experience working with art in public organizations.
- Good communication skills in both Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
Meriting factors include:
- Doctoral education in art history or another relevant field.
- Research merits relevant to collection work with an emphasis on older art or collections.
- Experience in managing art collections at an authority.
- Experience in mediation and educational work.
- Driver's license.
To thrive in this role, you need to be able to work proactively and independently. You should be able to effectively plan and prioritize tasks in consultation with others. You should have the ability to see the big picture analytically and be willing to work both strategically and operationally. As the work involves collaboration with many parties both internally and externally, good teamwork skills and responsiveness are important. The work also requires attention to detail and a sense of quality.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
About the Employment
The position is permanent full-time with a six-month probationary period. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. Start date by agreement.
